Fountain of Life

Revelation 21:6  And he said unto me, It is done.  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

Psalm 36:7-9  How excellent is thy loving kindness, O God!  therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.  8) They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shall make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.  9) For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

Proverbs 13:14  The law of the wise is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.  Proverbs 14:27  The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death.

There is a song I love from church – “There’s A Fountain Free”  The first verse and the chorus are so inspiring.

“There’s a fountain free, ’tis for you and me, Let us haste, O haste to the brink; “Tis a fount of love from the Source above, And He bids us all freely drink.

Chorus: Will you come to the fountain free?  Will you come? ’tis for you and me; Thirsty soul hear the welcome call; ‘Tis a fountain open for all.”

A World of Kindness

I have prayed many times for a world full of kindness.  The secret to staying happy and peaceful – never listen to nor watch the news.  That is hard to do in my home, because my husband is an avid news watcher. I try to escape the violence and hate that constantly bombards the newscasts.  I can hear most of the news from another room in our home.  I often go outside or put my earphones on to listen to music on my MP3 player and drown out the news.

IMG_0854

God’s word tells us there will be wars and rumors of wars in Matthew 24:6-9.  These verses tell of a sad scenario about the violence and hate that will transpire on this earth.

IMG_7740

In Ephesians 6:10-13 God tells us to withstand evil.  We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil.

IMG_1323

Listening to a constant barrage of hate on the news; makes us forget there is still much good in this world.  The news is 97% bad and usually only 3% good.

IMG_8048

Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us to let all bitterness, wrath, hate, and evil be put away from us. We are instructed to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one to another.

Romans 12:20 – Overcome evil with Good.

IMG_8870

Although we live among the evil doers of this world – we must let our light shine brightly. Perhaps our examples of good will turn a lost soul to Christ.

I often look to the sky when I pray to God.  As you can see from the enclosed photos – there is beauty and peace in the wonderful pictures God paints for us in the sky.

May God bless our world and bring more peace and less hate in the future.

Wet Weather

IMG_2842

Those of us who live in the “Tornado Belt” of the U.S. know what Spring holds in store for us concerning bad weather.  Sometimes Arkansas dodges the bullet and the storms leave our state before they become violent.  We were not so lucky Saturday, April 29.  We had 6 inches of rain, tornadoes, hail, wind, flooding, power outages, damaged property, human injury and death.  I can’t understand why any of us decide to reside in an area that has such wild weather.  My excuse is that I married an Arkie – I truly would prefer to live in the Western U.S.

The saddest tragedy concerning the 6 deaths we had in the state was the following story: A mother was out driving with her 2 young children, she ventured into flood water with her automobile.  Her car began to float away when the swift water became too deep.  The mother had to make a choice and she managed to swim ashore, but her 4 year old and 18 month old were still buckled up in the back seat.  She could not save her children as the water rushed into her car.  They have not found the car or the children at this time.  The police on the news who say this is not a rescue, they know it is now a recovery, have tears in their eyes as they talk of this incident.  We all know this mother is probably blaming herself; she will never be able to forget what happened; she will grieve for her children the rest of her life; depression will be the center of her life for a very long time. Each time I hear a story like this it brings sorrow to my heart and soul – I do not know what words could be said that would bring this mother comfort.

The morning the clouds from this storm began to build up over our state –  the sun managed to peek out for 30 seconds.  I was looking out the kitchen window, saw the sun, grabbed my camera, and got these two photos through the window – and then the sun was gone from sight.

IMG_2029

The rain came and in 12 hours we had a total of 6 inches of rain often mixed with hail. The wind blew leaves from the trees and limbs began to fall.  It is never uncommon in these storms to have a death from limbs or entire trees falling on a home.

Roads were washed away; roads were closed; farmer’s field with planted crops were flooded causing serious financial loss.

Life on this earth is often rough and very sorrowful.  I will leave you with this scripture: II Corinthians 1: 3-4 “Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”

God Verses Science

Each time I read anything that a scientist wrote about how the universe was formed, I become angry (shame on me); It is as if mankind thinks they are smarter than God.

I read this article in a magazine the other day: “The most widely accepted theory of how the moon was formed is; That a young planet collided with earth more than four billion years ago.  This collision created debris that came together to create the moon.”

In the Bible it tells us: Genesis 1:14-19 “And God said let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and for years; And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: He made the stars also.  And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.  And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.”

Throughout the Bible prophets, wise men, King David and others reminded us that God created our universe.  Psalm 8:1 & 3-4 “O Lord our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! Who hast set thy glory above the heavens. (3) When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; (4) What is man that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man that thou visitest him?”

Each Day

There is a church song I love – “A Beautiful Life”.  I love the first verse of this song – “Each day I’ll do a golden deed.  By helping those who are in need.  My life on earth is but a span. And so I’ll do the best I can.” The sunrise this morning was beautiful and as I stood outside I sang this song to myself.

A buzzard flew over, landed in a tree to watch me. A little rabbit bounded by and went on his way.  He was too fast to capture his picture.

IMG_2279

I looked at this cloud and thought I saw a Teddy Bear laying on his back, watching me, as he drifted slowly by.  His front paws were on his chest and his back leg was raised to wave at me.

IMG_2260

These wavy clouds drifted by – as if they were waving a greeting to me.  What a beautiful world God gave us to enjoy.

IMG_2264

I can still see that Teddy Bear raise his head to look at me.  As he drifts along on his fluffy, soft bed of clouds, high up in that beautiful sky.

IMG_2253

The last verse of the song . . . “While going down life’s weary road. I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load. I’ll try to turn the night to day.  Make flowers bloom along the way.”

My husband and I did just that last week for a stranded 60 year old lady.  Her car broke down and she had little money to continue her journey home (500 miles).  She had been sleeping in her car for 3 nights. It was a blessing for us to help someone who told us the truth.  Someone who truly needed help. She said, “God sent her 2 guardian angels.”  She had taken a wrong turn and ended up in our area. We told her God sent her our way so we could help.  A wonderful christian mechanic, we know, fixed the mechanical problems with her car and did not charge a fee.  This lady sent us an email when she arrived safely home. It makes me think of the verse in the Bible – Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Vainglory and Strife

IMG_9087

I was sitting, looking at the lovely reflection in my living room mirror.  For an instant I saw beauty, peace, comfort and yet . . .  In just a short time my thoughts changed to something that has bothered me for a long time.  The chaos, deceit, and hate I see happening here in America in Washington D. C.

I Timothy 2:1-3 “I exhort therefore that first of all, supplications, prayers, and intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men.  For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.  For this is good an acceptable in the sight of God our savior.”

It truly is hard to pray for those in authority in this country.  They are like unruly, squabbling children.  In my heart I do not see them turning into responsible adults.

Ecclesiastes 10:16 “Woe to thee, O land, when thy king is a child, and thy princes eat in the morning!”

Ecclesiastes 10:12 “The words of a wise man’s mouth are gracious; but the lips of a fool will swallow up himself.”

I find myself depressed and full of hopelessness; due to the childish behavior of the democrats and the republicans. I see them all acting like 5 year old children. Each of them is trying to get a piece of the pie, but there is not enough pie to go around. My wise Mother, who is with the Lord now, would have laughed at that statement and agreed with me. I truly believe our new president needs to learn to control the words that come out of his mouth.  He needs to cease the childish statements on Twitter.  A wise man thinks and is silent, but a fool spews foolishness from his mouth.

Philippians 2:3 “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.”

I will leave you with another bit of the wisdom of King Solomon.

Ecclesiastes 1:9 “The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun.”

May God bless America and instill upon the foolish men of this country – Wisdom.

Be Ever Ready

We drift through life.  We let the world distract us from serving the Lord.  We watch others pass from this earth, but we ignore our own mortality.  God tells us to be ever ready for we know not when the hour shall come.  The parable below is an excellent example of this scenario.

Luke 12:16-21  “And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?  And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.  And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.  But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasures for himself, and is not rich toward God.”

img_6179

Proverbs 3:9-10 “Honor the Lord with thy substance, and with the first-fruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.”

img_4578

Luke 12:24 “Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?”

img_4614

God tells us to lay up our treasures in heaven, not on this earth.

img_6007

We have lost several good people from our congregation lately.  Another wondeful Christian man passed away this morning.  We will all miss him greatly.  But, we all feel this gentleman has gone to be with Jesus.

Meditate On These Things

Our preacher (Wayne) had a fantastic sermon Christmas morning.  The title of his sermon was the title of this post – “Meditate On These Things.”

We all really need to slow down long enough to meditate on God’s word.

Philippians 4:8 – “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy – meditate on these things.

img_2849

True – Psalm 19:7 – “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul:” . . .

img_3588

Noble – I Peter 2:9 – But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people,” . . .

img_3857

Just – Romans 1:17 – For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.”

img_3702

Pure – Matthew 18:4 – Therefore whoever humbles himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

img_0816

Lovely – Genesis 1:31 – Then God saw everything that he had made, and indeed it was very good.” . . .

img_1304

Of Good Report – Proverbs 25:25 – As cold water to a weary soul, So is good news from a far country.”

img_2229

Virtue – I Peter 3:4 – Rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with incorruptible beauty of a gentle spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God.”

img_2297

Praiseworthy – Revelation 5:12 – In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

S0- Take time each day to – MEDITATE ON THESE THINGS.  Give God the glory and praise, He deserves, each day of your life.

Psalm 113: 1-3  – “Praise ye the Lord. Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.  Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and forever more.  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.”

img_3616

Psalm 136: 1 – “O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

img_3498

Psalm 50: 1  – The mighty God even the Lord hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.”
