September Blessings

We all go through trials and tribulations.  The last few months have been hectic.  I have done a lot of praying for several members of my family.  God has answered those prayers in a positive way.  I thank God for the blessings that September has brought.

My daughter tore the long tendon on the underside of her foot – Flexor Hallucis Longus.. It takes months with support stockings and special protective support shoes to heal.  She used crutches and got some pretty good muscles in her arms crawling around her house.  It meant her mother-in-law and her mother (me) did a lot of work to take care of her and her house for over 6 weeks. It is hard to be housebound for months and have to depend on others – I have been in that spot many times in my life.  My daughter is much better now and able to resume her normal life.  I thank God for that

It did not help that garden season was in full swing and the work never seemed to end.  But I managed to get through the whole ordeal – groan.  Old age gets harder every day.

My brother lives in Nevada.  His wife died 6 months ago.  I have been trying to help my brother through phone calls.  He is a Viet Nam vet and is disabled and in a wheel chair.  He ended up in the hospital and I truly thought he was not going to make it.  He talked about suicide and I talked to him often about not doing that.  I got the state involved and my brother got the V.A. involved.  Through my brother’s doctor at the V.A. things have worked out.  My brother’s health has improved. He acquired  Medicaid  and is living in a nice group home and seems to be happier.  I prayed hard and long for my brother and God answered those prayers.  I thank God for that.

My husband suffers with COPD and Macular Degeneration.  His health has been bad for years.  He never gives up and tries to take care of this large 3 acre yard. I try to help with the outside work and do fair until my fibromyalgia clobbers me and sends me into my long periods of vertigo.  I try never to give up and that keeps me going.  I thank God everyday for answering prayers 7 years ago when my husband almost died of menigitis. God has given me more time with my husband since those dark days in January 2013.  I still thank God everyday for answering prayers.

Sometimes when a person is down they turn from God, they get mad at God. they blame God.  I get discouraged, but I do none of those things.  Life deals a bad hand to everyone at times.  My answer to the problems in my life is always prayer.

So – I take the time to watch beautiful butterflies and find peace in the blessings God has given me in my life.  Thank you Lord for your blessings and your love.

The Light Of The World

Psalm 27:1  The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid.

As I sat in the Retina clinic yesterday with my husband – I prayed to the Lord to let my husband keep the sight in his right eye.  The last three months have been filled with eye appointments and anxiety.  Yet, I knew the Lord was there to help and comfort us.  My husband has Macular Degeneration in both eyes, but his right eye is leaking fluid at the back of the eye.  David has lost some vision in his right eye, but with treatment each month he will retain what sight he now has in that eye.  We all go through trials and tribulations in this life, but with God’s help we can endure.  Never under-estimate the power of prayer – I saw prayer save my husband’s life 6 years ago when he was in the hospital with meningitis.  I thank the Lord each day for the last six years that David has been with me.  Live each day with gusto – for we do not know if we will have tomorrow with our earthly family. Yet, we all know eternal life will  be  wonderful and beyond our expectations.

On Bended Knee

Was taking a drive through the country the other day and ran across this marvelous sign over the entrance to a ranch.

Made me think of this poem by S. D. Gordon

The greatest thing anyone can do for God and man is pray.

It is not the only thing, but the chief thing.

The great people of earth are the people who pray.

I do not mean those who talk about prayer;

Nor those who say they believe in prayer;

Nor yet those who can explain about prayer;

But, I mean those people who take the time to pray.
