Finding Peace

IMG_1804 (2)

What this world needs is more PEACE!  Early in the morning, after a rain, when a lot of mankind is still asleep – I find peace in my yard, with my camera – soaking up nature’s quiet beauty.  I love spider webs covered in rain drops.  Intricate webs created by spiders that many people fear and detest.  Yet, if you venture out on an early, wet morning – these webs come alive with a look of gleaming pearls.

“Don’t let people pull you into their storms.  Pull them into your peace.”  Spiritual-quotes-to-live-by.com

My brother was a person who was either on top of the world or down in a deep pit of despair.  He is gone now, but not forgotten.  I loved him very much and I miss him. Yet, I often told him when he tried to drag me down to an unhappy place – “Stay in that hole of misery you have created, but don’t expect me to join you.”

Our esteemed past president Ronald Reagan said – “Peace is not the absence of conflict, it is the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means.”

My husband is constantly watching the news – which is something I try not to do.  So, I venture out into God’s beautiful world and soak up nature’s quiet peace. Try sitting silently in your garden and let peace enfold you in its arms.  Ah – sheer bliss.

Communing With The Cows

There I was once again – boots on, in my pajamas in the yard trying to capture another gorgeous sunrise.  So peaceful out in my country yard – dew sparkling on the grass at 5:45 A.M.  Then I got side tracked and began to talk to the cows in the pasture – just across the fence.  I must be Mrs. Dr. Do-Little, because I talk to all the creatures I meet.

God just makes some of the most spectacular scenes for us to view.  Thank you Lord for another wonderful beginning to another beautiful day.

Beautiful Reasons

Thousands of Reasons by Doe Zantamata

If every morning you can find a reason to say, “Yes, it’s going to be a beautiful day.” And every day, you find a reason to say, “Yes, it is a beautiful day.” And every night, you find a reason to say, “Yes, it is a beautiful day.” Then one day you’ll look back and easily say, “Yes . . . it was a beautiful day.”

Psalm 104:33-34 I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live: I will sing praise to my God while I have being. My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the Lord.

Small Simple Moments

IMG_8570 (2)

I don’t need extravagant adventures in my life to make me happy.  What makes me content are the small, simple, moments in life.  Extreme moments fade, but small daily pleasures that cross my path bring me joy.

When I relax at the end of each day – tranquil, comforting moments are what make me smile or laugh.  A friend told me a joke that I truly thought was funny.  “Why was the cat so small?  Because it only drank condensed milk.”

I sent my friend a card telling her I was thinking of her.  The next time I saw her I received a smile and a big hug.  She said, “You always make me smile and laugh.  You always lift my mood and make me happy.” I knew she always did the same for me.

Taking my camera out to view nature and capturing some fantastic photos thrills my soul.  How could anyone possibly be unhappy when God blesses us with such a beautiful world to enjoy.

I love visiting friends and talking face to face.  A visit from my daughter or granddaughter brightens my entire day.  In this age of technology – physical human interaction is something we all should seek to do more.

Sitting in the lawn swing in the evening discussing the events of the day with my husband is very enjoyable. We sit and look at the garden trying to grow; despite the tremendous amount of rain we have had lately.  Half of the garden has washed away.

The bluebirds entertain me switching their nest between two bird houses we have placed very far apart.  They have switched their nest material from one to the other three times now.  I laugh – perhaps this is a pair of young bluebirds who need a few years of practice on how to raise a family.  Nope – an infestation of ants.  Tangle Foot around the pole and the ants go elsewhere.

Our blueberries create  a lot of work for us at this time of the year.  But until you have eaten blueberries right off the bush – you don’t know what you are missing.

So give me the small, simplistic, enjoyable pleasures that daily life throws at me.  After all life should be filled with laughs and an occasional joke: “What animal has more lives than a cat? . . .  A frog – it croaks every night.”  And I do hear the tree frogs croaking right now – as the lightening bugs light up the night.

Smile at the end of your day and thank God for the quiet, peaceful, happy moments that fill the days of your life.  These small moments help us get through the rough patches.

Psalm 113:3  From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the Lord’s name is to be praised.

Thoughts for the day

IMG_8171

I was listening to a good preacher on television Sunday morning before we left for church.  He was talking about the amount of people who do not believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  That is not a shock to me – just watch the actions of many in the world and you can tell they do not give God a thought at all.   How sad NOT to know and love the Lord who created us all.

Paul wrote in I Corinthians:

I Corinthians 14:37 (KJV)   If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are commandments of the Lord.

My Favorite View

IMG_8081 (2)

My favorite view is my backyard from my kitchen window that faces East.  Living in the country in Central Arkansas is wonderful.  The Spring rains have turned our half acre garden spot into a wet mess and has delayed planting.  My Yellow Delicious apple tree is in full bloom and is attracting several types of butterflies and bees.  The smaller Gala apple tree on the right  blooms several weeks later.

I stand at this window at dawn each morning watching the rabbits chase each other around the yard.  Numerous species of birds love to walk across the muddy tilled ground in search of worms and insects.  Each day I watch the fox squirrel leave the big oak tree to the North and venture through the garden and down to the Southeast corner of the property.  I am never sure why he makes this journey each day, but there must be something very interesting in that corner of the yard.

Our little Wren and his mate visit the base of the apple tree each morning looking for some small insect to eat for breakfast.  This pair of Wrens nests in my husband’s shop each year.  The small Wrens and the Bluebirds are my favorite birds.

The Bluebirds perch high on the power lines and swoop down to the ground for a bug or worm.  I often wish I had their keen eyesight.  We have several pairs of bluebirds that nest in bird houses that my husband has made and  placed on our 3 acre spot of land.

I never fail to be watching out my kitchen window during early morning dawn to capture a glorious sunrise in my camera lens.    I can view the little creatures that inhabit my yard through my kitchen window without disturbing them.

My husband and I often sit in the lawn swing and watch the garden grow.  On a warm day the sun warms our faces as we sit, swing and view nature.  On a very hot day the shade from the apple tree helps cool our brow.

The view through the window every morning makes my day begin with enjoyment and thoughts of what a beautiful world God has made for me to view.  I wish each person in the world had a private and peaceful place that brought them comfort and pleasure.

May God bless each of you with a happy, peaceful day filled with joy and contentment.  May you find a  place to escape the hectic world that swirls madly around us each day.

My Farewell.

Well I spent a month not being able to blog.  In that month I decided to stop blogging.  I disconnected my internet 6 or 7 weeks ago; I started going to my daughter’s house to use her internet service.  I was sick with my vertigo problem and could not leave home for 2 weeks.  Then my daughter got a virus and was sick for 2 weeks and I could not go to her home and perhaps catch this virus.  During this time I found that I returned to a life I had before internet.  I found I enjoyed the free time to do things I once use to do, but did not have time for anymore.  I now, am writing a second book, reading books, painting, drawing, spending time with friends and family; face to face.  I have enjoyed blogging with all of my blogger friends, I will miss you, but at age 75 it is time for this old lady to go back to the old ways of life.  Ha  So farewell and may God bless each of you in your lives.

I will leave you with this lovely sunset . . .

A World of Kindness

I have prayed many times for a world full of kindness.  The secret to staying happy and peaceful – never listen to nor watch the news.  That is hard to do in my home, because my husband is an avid news watcher. I try to escape the violence and hate that constantly bombards the newscasts.  I can hear most of the news from another room in our home.  I often go outside or put my earphones on to listen to music on my MP3 player and drown out the news.

IMG_0854

God’s word tells us there will be wars and rumors of wars in Matthew 24:6-9.  These verses tell of a sad scenario about the violence and hate that will transpire on this earth.

IMG_7740

In Ephesians 6:10-13 God tells us to withstand evil.  We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil.

IMG_1323

Listening to a constant barrage of hate on the news; makes us forget there is still much good in this world.  The news is 97% bad and usually only 3% good.

IMG_8048

Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us to let all bitterness, wrath, hate, and evil be put away from us. We are instructed to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one to another.

Romans 12:20 – Overcome evil with Good.

IMG_8870

Although we live among the evil doers of this world – we must let our light shine brightly. Perhaps our examples of good will turn a lost soul to Christ.

I often look to the sky when I pray to God.  As you can see from the enclosed photos – there is beauty and peace in the wonderful pictures God paints for us in the sky.

May God bless our world and bring more peace and less hate in the future.

Each Day

There is a church song I love – “A Beautiful Life”.  I love the first verse of this song – “Each day I’ll do a golden deed.  By helping those who are in need.  My life on earth is but a span. And so I’ll do the best I can.” The sunrise this morning was beautiful and as I stood outside I sang this song to myself.

A buzzard flew over, landed in a tree to watch me. A little rabbit bounded by and went on his way.  He was too fast to capture his picture.

I looked at this cloud and thought I saw a Teddy Bear laying on his back, watching me, as he drifted slowly by.  His front paws were on his chest and his back leg was raised to wave at me.

IMG_2260

These wavy clouds drifted by – as if they were waving a greeting to me.  What a beautiful world God gave us to enjoy.

IMG_2264

I can still see that Teddy Bear raise his head to look at me.  As he drifts along on his fluffy, soft bed of clouds, high up in that beautiful sky.

IMG_2253

The last verse of the song . . . “While going down life’s weary road. I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load. I’ll try to turn the night to day.  Make flowers bloom along the way.”

My husband and I did just that last week for a stranded 60 year old lady.  Her car broke down and she had little money to continue her journey home (500 miles).  She had been sleeping in her car for 3 nights. It was a blessing for us to help someone who told us the truth.  Someone who truly needed help. She said, “God sent her 2 guardian angels.”  She had taken a wrong turn and ended up in our area. We told her God sent her our way so we could help.  A wonderful christian mechanic, we know, fixed the mechanical problems with her car and did not charge a fee.  This lady sent us an email when she arrived safely home. It makes me think of the verse in the Bible – Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”
