Thoughts for the day

IMG_8171

I was listening to a good preacher on television Sunday morning before we left for church.  He was talking about the amount of people who do not believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  That is not a shock to me – just watch the actions of many in the world and you can tell they do not give God a thought at all.   How sad NOT to know and love the Lord who created us all.

Paul wrote in I Corinthians:

I Corinthians 14:37 (KJV)   If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are commandments of the Lord.

My Favorite View

IMG_8081 (2)

My favorite view is my backyard from my kitchen window that faces East.  Living in the country in Central Arkansas is wonderful.  The Spring rains have turned our half acre garden spot into a wet mess and has delayed planting.  My Yellow Delicious apple tree is in full bloom and is attracting several types of butterflies and bees.  The smaller Gala apple tree on the right  blooms several weeks later.

I stand at this window at dawn each morning watching the rabbits chase each other around the yard.  Numerous species of birds love to walk across the muddy tilled ground in search of worms and insects.  Each day I watch the fox squirrel leave the big oak tree to the North and venture through the garden and down to the Southeast corner of the property.  I am never sure why he makes this journey each day, but there must be something very interesting in that corner of the yard.

Our little Wren and his mate visit the base of the apple tree each morning looking for some small insect to eat for breakfast.  This pair of Wrens nests in my husband’s shop each year.  The small Wrens and the Bluebirds are my favorite birds.

The Bluebirds perch high on the power lines and swoop down to the ground for a bug or worm.  I often wish I had their keen eyesight.  We have several pairs of bluebirds that nest in bird houses that my husband has made and  placed on our 3 acre spot of land.

I never fail to be watching out my kitchen window during early morning dawn to capture a glorious sunrise in my camera lens.    I can view the little creatures that inhabit my yard through my kitchen window without disturbing them.

My husband and I often sit in the lawn swing and watch the garden grow.  On a warm day the sun warms our faces as we sit, swing and view nature.  On a very hot day the shade from the apple tree helps cool our brow.

The view through the window every morning makes my day begin with enjoyment and thoughts of what a beautiful world God has made for me to view.  I wish each person in the world had a private and peaceful place that brought them comfort and pleasure.

May God bless each of you with a happy, peaceful day filled with joy and contentment.  May you find a  place to escape the hectic world that swirls madly around us each day.

My Farewell.

Well I spent a month not being able to blog.  In that month I decided to stop blogging.  I disconnected my internet 6 or 7 weeks ago; I started going to my daughter’s house to use her internet service.  I was sick with my vertigo problem and could not leave home for 2 weeks.  Then my daughter got a virus and was sick for 2 weeks and I could not go to her home and perhaps catch this virus.  During this time I found that I returned to a life I had before internet.  I found I enjoyed the free time to do things I once use to do, but did not have time for anymore.  I now, am writing a second book, reading books, painting, drawing, spending time with friends and family; face to face.  I have enjoyed blogging with all of my blogger friends, I will miss you, but at age 75 it is time for this old lady to go back to the old ways of life.  Ha  So farewell and may God bless each of you in your lives.

I will leave you with this lovely sunset . . .

A World of Kindness

I have prayed many times for a world full of kindness.  The secret to staying happy and peaceful – never listen to nor watch the news.  That is hard to do in my home, because my husband is an avid news watcher. I try to escape the violence and hate that constantly bombards the newscasts.  I can hear most of the news from another room in our home.  I often go outside or put my earphones on to listen to music on my MP3 player and drown out the news.

God’s word tells us there will be wars and rumors of wars in Matthew 24:6-9.  These verses tell of a sad scenario about the violence and hate that will transpire on this earth.

In Ephesians 6:10-13 God tells us to withstand evil.  We must put on the whole armor of God to stand against the wiles of the devil.

IMG_1323

Listening to a constant barrage of hate on the news; makes us forget there is still much good in this world.  The news is 97% bad and usually only 3% good.

IMG_8048

Ephesians 4:31-32 tells us to let all bitterness, wrath, hate, and evil be put away from us. We are instructed to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving one to another.

Romans 12:20 – Overcome evil with Good.

Although we live among the evil doers of this world – we must let our light shine brightly. Perhaps our examples of good will turn a lost soul to Christ.

I often look to the sky when I pray to God.  As you can see from the enclosed photos – there is beauty and peace in the wonderful pictures God paints for us in the sky.

May God bless our world and bring more peace and less hate in the future.

Each Day

There is a church song I love – “A Beautiful Life”.  I love the first verse of this song – “Each day I’ll do a golden deed.  By helping those who are in need.  My life on earth is but a span. And so I’ll do the best I can.” The sunrise this morning was beautiful and as I stood outside I sang this song to myself.

A buzzard flew over, landed in a tree to watch me. A little rabbit bounded by and went on his way.  He was too fast to capture his picture.

I looked at this cloud and thought I saw a Teddy Bear laying on his back, watching me, as he drifted slowly by.  His front paws were on his chest and his back leg was raised to wave at me.

These wavy clouds drifted by – as if they were waving a greeting to me.  What a beautiful world God gave us to enjoy.

I can still see that Teddy Bear raise his head to look at me.  As he drifts along on his fluffy, soft bed of clouds, high up in that beautiful sky.

The last verse of the song . . . “While going down life’s weary road. I’ll try to lift some traveler’s load. I’ll try to turn the night to day.  Make flowers bloom along the way.”

My husband and I did just that last week for a stranded 60 year old lady.  Her car broke down and she had little money to continue her journey home (500 miles).  She had been sleeping in her car for 3 nights. It was a blessing for us to help someone who told us the truth.  Someone who truly needed help. She said, “God sent her 2 guardian angels.”  She had taken a wrong turn and ended up in our area. We told her God sent her our way so we could help.  A wonderful christian mechanic, we know, fixed the mechanical problems with her car and did not charge a fee.  This lady sent us an email when she arrived safely home. It makes me think of the verse in the Bible – Hebrews 13:2 “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Rose of Sharon

I am going to post one more name I photographed over a gate to a ranch.  This name -“Rose of Sharon” reminds me of the following hymn from church.

Jesus, Rose of Sharon bloom within my heart . . . Beauties of Thy truth and holiness impart . . . That where’er I go my life shed abroad. . .Fragrance of the love of God. . . Jesus Rose of Sharon. . .Bloom in radiance and in love within my heart.

I think the first verse of this song says it all.  Love and live as Jesus would do and spread love through out this world. Amen

On Bended Knee

Was taking a drive through the country the other day and ran across this marvelous sign over the entrance to a ranch.

Made me think of this poem by S. D. Gordon

The greatest thing anyone can do for God and man is pray.

It is not the only thing, but the chief thing.

The great people of earth are the people who pray.

I do not mean those who talk about prayer;

Nor those who say they believe in prayer;

Nor yet those who can explain about prayer;

But, I mean those people who take the time to pray.

Peace, Love, and Harmony

I guess everyone has sad memories in their lives.  I commend the bloggers I chose to be friends with – they seem to overcome tragedies and move on.  I do not generally mention my memories from 2012 – 2015, which were mostly like living in a nightmare.  Our preacher said the other day – “Ask God to forgive you for the sins and shortcomings in your lives, put them behind you, and move on.  God forgives you – forgive yourselves.” I had many shortcomings in those years due to overwhelming stress.  I did ask God to forgive me many, many times.  But it is funny how your mind will not let them go. My therapy for all of this was to go out into nature and photograph its beauty.  Even a simple puddle of water with reflections inspires me to see beauty.

If Man could learn to live their lives in contentment as the little birds do or the animals – what peace would fill your mind.  These small creatures go on with their lives and simply live in peace and harmony.  Man has never mastered the talent of all the small creatures that inhabit this world.  I guess all the violence and hate in this world is getting me down.  The tornadoes and storms that have damaged Arkansas and other states in the last few months has brought sorrow to my heart.  Sometimes you question why this world has to contain so much sorrow.  I do not blame God – I blame the actions of mankind on this earth.  America will be in a turmoil for 4 years over the actions of the Democrats and Republicans.  These two political parties are waging their own war against each other. Who is getting hurt in the cross fire (?) – the entire world.

I had no intention of writing all this – but I will say – Mankind needs to get their act together and straighten up.  None of the hate that transpires helps anyone.  God is not responsible for any of this turmoil – for God is love.  God gave man a free will to think for himself and mankind simply does not do what is pleasing in God’s sight.  Many need to grow up and take responsibility for their own actions.  You could say mankind acts like they are little children.  I believe children are more mature than many adults in this world.

These little blue butterflies live in peace and harmony.
