A Different Way to Look at Independence Day

On this American Independence Day, I salute and thank all people, alive and dead, who have helped in any way to win and maintain our independence, as well as the liberty, rights and privileges guaranteed by our Constitution. It has been an epic struggle by loyal freedom-loving Americans against internal and external foes who have wished to end the great American experiment we call democracy. These struggles have led to monumental wars that have tested the spirit and bravery of the nation, and to those who came to the rescue of our nation in war, we owe our eternal gratitude. We also owe our gratitude on this Independence Day to all who have struggled mightily against those forces within the nation – that would deny protection guaranteed by the constitution to certain classes of people…

A Great Sunset

I have been waiting for a great Sunset to appear for a month.  We have had plenty of beautiful Sunrises, but Mother Nature would blow all the evening clouds away and refuse to let the Sunset shine in all its glory.  Last night the sun lit up the clouds in every direction and surrounded my yard with glorious beauty and color.  Such a thrill.

I really can’t give the glory of such beauty to Mother Nature – we all know God created the beauty of this world.

Galveston, Texas

Last week my daughter, granddaughter and I went to Galveston, Texas for 5 days.  I had not stood on any beach for years  – and I missed the beach.  These pictures are from one morning when the sunrise was magnificent.  When I zoomed in on distant objects the color was spectacular.

Later in the day I took this photo of the beach and water glowing in the full sun.

Early Morning

I am usually still up when my husband retires for the night.  I am up in the early morning for 2 or 3 hours before my husband arises.  Insomnia is a big problem for me. but seeing the sunrise when it appears is the best part of the day.  The sunrise this morning after 5 inches of rain yesterday – was not as colorful as usual, but I can still see the beauty of God’s morning display in the sky.

Anything in nature is a thrill for me.  We all have to agree that God created a beautiful world for us to enjoy.  The joy in a sunrise is missed by a lot of people in the world, because they fail to pause and take in the beauty that surrounds them.  I give a big sigh as I photograph each morning’s sunrise and realize what others have missed.  I always show the sunrise to my husband who would miss it – if I did not show him what I have captured in my camera lens each early morning.

James 3: 17-18  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy, and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.  And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

Viewing Above

I find when the antics of those in the world upset me – looking above the earth and viewing the sky brings me peace.  I cannot believe the colors that God spreads across the sky.  The television news  is depressing beyond belief.  Why they fail to show much more of the good news that happens in this world is beyond me.  I still believe there are more good people in this world – than there are bad.  I would like to hear the good stories.IMG_6920.JPG
