Poem of Spring

A Prayer In Spring . . .  by Robert Frost

  • OH, give us pleasure in the flowers today;
  • And give us not to think so far away
  • As the uncertain harvest; keep us here.
  • All simply in the springing of the year.
  • Oh, give us pleasure in the orchard white,
  • Like nothing else by day, like ghosts by night;
  • And make us happy in the happy bees,
  • The swarm dilating round the perfect trees.
  • And make us happy in the darting bird
  • That suddenly above the bees is heard.
  • The meteor that thrusts in with needle bill,
  • And off a blossom in mid air stands still.
  • For this is love and nothing else is love,
  • To which it is reserved for God above
  • To sanctify to what far ends He will,
  • But which it only needs that we fulfill.

    1. I think Spring is here very early, but one can never be sure. The weather is so unusual lately. We will be in the 70s here this week, which is warm. I am happy you are having warmer weather Pete.

      1. My Pleasure.. Yes blue sky this morning and just back for a walk we often do for a couple of hours through the woods.. And it was so nice to hear the birds chirping away in the sunshine and see them. We had the best part of the morning.. Its clouded now.. I didnt take my phone or my camera with me or I could have taken a shot of some wild snowdrops.. just beautiful they were.. 🙂 Have a peaceful Day Peggy .. and thank you for your lovely reply xx
