In a few weeks we will be picking blueberries and blackberries for hours and weeks.  Our daughter, granddaughter, and friends from church help with the picking and reap the harvest.  No one minds picking the blackberries, because they are thornless.

The garden is slow this year due to cloudy and rainy days.  We have had several bad garden years in a row.  You can see from the photo below that the blueberries are doing well.

My husband has tried to keep the vines on these blackberries tied in place.  I can never remember the name of this blackberry, but the berries are huge and very tasty.  We have joked for years about my husband growing enough to feed everyone for miles around.

  1. I’m not a big blueberry fan, but those look like they would go very well in some muffins! My grandmother had muscadine grapes and they made the best jelly!

    Oooh, Peggy, that’s awesome! 😀
My family loves to garden, (usually vegetables) so gardening has become a major part of my life!
I absolutely loved this post, and it actually made me crave some blackberries, haha!
We used to have some blackberry bushes, but recently they died away. Now I’m gonna have to plant some more! 😛

No offense taken. I could do that if I could find the manual…

Right now, I have a few other things that must get done. No time to spend with my camera. I’ll just enjoy your work!
